Parkoso Youth Demand Exclusion of Family Head in Lumba Funeral Dispute
In a dramatic turn of events surrounding the funeral of the legendary Ghanaian Highlife artist Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known as Daddy Lumba, a new controversy has emerged. On November 21, 2025, the legal battle between the late musician's first wife, Akosua Serwaa, and his mistress, Odo Broni, took an unexpected twist when the Parkoso community stepped in.
The Parkoso youth, passionate and vocal, have taken a stand, demanding that the late Lumba's Abusuapanyin, Kofi Owusu, be excluded from all funeral preparations. According to Yaw Obese, a member of the group, the Abusuapanyin's actions are tarnishing the reputation of the late Highlife icon.
"We are from Parkoso, and we are here to make a peaceful request. We ask that Abusuapanyin removes himself from Lumba's burial preparations and that the funeral takes place in Parkoso, where Lumba originated. His involvement is causing a rift within the community, and we believe it's time to honor Lumba's legacy in his hometown," Obese stated.
The youth's concern is twofold. Firstly, they believe that Abusuapanyin's actions are tarnishing the community's image. Secondly, they argue that there is no need for his involvement as Lumba's resting place should be in Parkoso, as per tradition.
This development adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing legal battle, as the Parkoso youth's intervention could potentially impact the funeral's logistics and the distribution of Lumba's assets. The question remains: will Abusuapanyin comply with the youth's demands, or will this dispute further divide the community?
